Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele has won his second successive Olympic 10,000 metres gold medal, in a new Olympic record time of 27 minutes 01.17 seconds.Compatriot Sileshi Sihine claimed silver, as he did in Athens, but Kenyan Micah Kogo ensured there was no Ethiopian clean-sweep.
Bekele’s 35-year-old team-mate Haile Gebrselassie, the Olympic 10,000m champion in 1996 and 2000, came in sixth.
Together, the two runners have ensured Ethiopian dominance in the event for four consecutive Olympic Games.
Bekele confirmed after the race he would attempt the long-distance track ‘double’, aiming to take out the gold in the 5,000m – something he has failed to do in previous attempts in 2004 and 2003.
The funny race of 5k wil be held among women of Oromo origin. Two of them will be wearing the Ethiopian Orthodox flag as usual , and the other two will be waving the Ottoman Turish Islamic flag. When they do not have a country and a national flag, they ought to do. Nothing is wrong with them. May Waaqa help them.

Hopefully they will realise soon that they have been running for others and carrying others’ flag on the world stage while our own Oromo flag deserves to fly high.
You guys are not going to free “Oromia” from an internet cafe. You OLF oromos seem hell bent on forcing “Oromia” on Ethiopian oromos. If they wanted to rep Oromia they would but they are repping Ethiopia.
Rissa and Oromantic you guys need to get a grip on reality. The runners have a country and its called ethiopia. You guys are the secessionists and most Oromos dont agree with you guys. Stop the annoying and arrogant idea that all Oromos are OLF buffs like you.
