Oromos took Appeal for Justice to Heart of Europe

A peaceful demonstration organized by the Union of Oromo Students in Europe, Belgium (UOSEB) branch was successfully made on 30th June 2008 from place jean rey (in front of the European parliament) to berlaimont (in front of the European commission) in Brussels, Belgium.

The main objective of the demonstration was to protest the Ethiopian government backed Gumuz militia attacks on the civilian Oromos in west Oromia, in which some 400 men ,women, children’s and elderly have been murdered in a way too ghastly to explain.

The demonstrators accused the continuous and horrible  human rights abuse by the Ethiopian government on the Oromo ,people and other nationalities in Ethiopia and the horn of Africa in general.

The participants came together  from all over western Europe including Germany, Netherland, Switzerland, Belgium and more. Participants were briefed by Dr. Mezgebu, the ex-MPE Dr.Getacho Jigi, Oromo elder and woyane prison victim Obbo Tilahun, Adde Makiyya and Ex-president of the Ethiopian university students union Hunde Dhugassa. After the brief the demonstrators committed themselves to work together to topple the dictatorship of Meles government in any possible way they can. After promising to meet regularly until human rights is respected in that country the participants went home with peace and success.
