Beauty, Culture and Beyond….

To be held during Oromo Megafest 2008 in Minnesota, this event will be a beauty pageant/fashion show, meaning that contestants choosing to enter and compete will have to answer questions demonstrating their knowledge of Oromo culture, model cultural and contemporary fashion, and give a talent exhibition.
In the same class category as Run For Oromia, this event will be a professional fashion show, marketable to non-Oromos audiences. Are you ready for stardom? Well get ready, because this event will attract crowds, Oromo and non-Oromo alike, for an evening of class, culture and entertainment.

ELIGIBILITY & REGULATIONS

Any female of Oromo origin (regardless of her place of birth) between the ages of 17 to 28, with good moral character, is eligible to participate. She must be at least a High School junior and must possess talent, charm, and a pleasing personality. College students are strongly encouraged to apply. Each contestant will pay a non-refundable registration fee of $25US. The fee is to help off set the cost for the pageant; it will be used towards the cost of hosting the contestant at the pageant.

Contestants of the Miss Oromia USA™ Pageant will be judged in the following segments: (a) Oromo Attire, (b) Talent (c) Evening Wear, and (d) Interview on Oromo Culture.

(a) Oromo Attire: Clothing from any of the regions in the color and style of the contestant’s choice

(b) Talent: Contestant will be asked to exhibit a talent of theirs that set them apart from the other contestants. This can include but is not limited to singing, poetry, art, comedy, etc.

(c) Evening Wear: A full-length European gown in the color and style of the contestant’s choice

(d) Interview: All interviews will be done in their Evening Wear
*Don’t be intimidated pageant staff will assist with all of the above.

Contestants must fill out, sign, and return forms AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, (Deadline approaching fast). Two photos of the candidate should accompany all applications. One photo should be a head shot of the contestant and the second should be a full-bodied shot. These photographs will be used in the pageant souvenir program and advertising material, so please send photos that show you at your best.

All contestants are required to participate in all rehearsals.
