The famous Bati beat of Oromo music which originated from Bati, Wallo has been recieved warmly by Amharic music genre and Ethiopians have been enjoying it for a long while. Now, Tadele Roba, former half of Lafonten, took it to the next level and fused it with the Blues, or at least that is what he is saying. An Oromo beat laced with the Blues beat and sung in Amharic is the ultimate confusion LOL. All in all it is a great video but I noticed Obbo Roba’s identity crisis in his lyrics.
What say you?
Bati & Blues (B&B) is not your regular Roots & Blues(R&B), On a second thought, Bati is our Oromo Roots. So yeah…
Enjoy!

What does this song to do with race. Amhara, Oromo blah blah. It looks like you are attributing this song to Oromo culture. It is almost like the British claiming Mickeal Jackson as theirs.
Come out of your little race box and free yourself from the 12th century philosophy. Only then you can be a healthy man with out identity crisis, self-hate and inferiority complex.
The Amhara tribe and the Oromo Tribe are neighbours and have shared so many aspects of life and will share in the future. You will go to your grave with in your little box being enslaved by your backward thinking. But generation will come after generation that lives in peace in that area.
Finally i will salute you by saying fuck you
Now they say this tomorrow This ignorant OLF cadres will say Saint Yared is Oromo.
^^ well well well! What do we have here?
Let me give you Hard Rock some Heavy Metal
An AC/DC rock that is very sentimental
Funny you mention Michael Jackson
But you got the argument upside down
MJ is origionally black though he looks white now
On the same token, Bati is Oromos face lifted by Amharaw
We’re claiming what is rightly ours
Please don’t come here to drop your curse
Our philosophy is not backward
It is modern day’s if you understand
We’re working for Freedom, Justice and Democracy
But you failed to see it clouded with your hypocracy
WHAT A SURPRISE, U POOR PPLS, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THE REAL PPL WHO ARE LIVING WITHOUT THE PROBLEM OF ETHINICITY ESPECIALLY WHO ARE LIVING IN ETHIOPIA, U GUYS ARE SITTING IN WESTERN WORLD TO MAKE THE WOREST LIFE OF THE POOR PPL MORE HORRIBLE BY PUTTING ETHINICITY ON THE TOP OF THE ISSUE.
HEY GUYS DO, DON’T TALK, YOU ALWAYS TALK FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS BUT U DIDN’T EVEN HELP TO SAVE ONE LIFE FROM HOME. JUST TEACH THEM HOW TO GO BACKWARD BY THAT IT HAPPENES ON 1600 TO YOU, IT HAPPENS BY OTHER ETINIC ON 1800 AND YOU HAVE TO FIGHT. WITH WHOME YOU WANT TO FIGHT, WE ARE DOING OKAY AT HOME WITH EACH OTHER, WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM NOT THE OLF SUPPORT US BUT OUR OTHER ETHINIC NEIGHBOURS!!!
LEAVE US ALONE!!! PROUDE TO BE ETHIOPIAN
^^ I don’t know why you’re reacting in such absurd kind of way. What is the problem with claiming our heritage and musical tradition?
Did you say, “leave us alone!”? The Irony! We’re the one saying that for the long time now. ya please leave us alone and let us be…
I’ve always liked Tadelle Robba (although I had my doubts about him being the better half of “Lafonten”s), he’s got an awesome voice. But i prefer him singing Oromigna songs, although “aba cha da ef ah ga ha” is all the oromigna I can manage to cover. That’s what his voice feels “created for”. That doesn’t mean i don’t think “batina blues” isn’t good. I like it the first time i heard it, perhaps because the idea was pretty new to me.
Hope you’d visit my weblog when you get time and, perhaps, comment on it. Especially to my question: Would an Oromo King/Ruler have done better? .
Best wishes,
Negati!
I like Taddele’s song. There is no doubt that he is Ethioian. That is what his song is all about.
For the confused OLF souls though; please underdstand that the 3 Ethiopian melodies “Bati, Ambassel and Anchihoye”are the foundation of Amharic music and these musical bits are now used by all Ethiopian languages.
For the last 40+ yeras you guys have been claiming everything and anything under the sky and that is why the organization remained useless for close to a century. I wouldn’t be surprised if you come out tomorrow and say “president Bush” is an Oromo!
Yielma. I know where you are coming from, bro. I understand, and sympathize. But it doesn’t mean i think you are right. You have no right to abuse neither Oromantic, especially when he’s been all but kindness to you, or anyone just because they believed differently (to you). More importantly, you aren’t helping neither your cause, nor yourself for that matter (for anybody can sense the seething anger) by behaving thus. Show some love, boo! You are claiming he is your brother, after all. Ain’t ya?!
P.S. President Bush being an Oromo isn’t the kind of thing Oromos would brag about [if was], trust me. These are proud people, incase you don’t know, that’s why they are refusing to take “chiqona” lying down, past and present. Bush, on the other hand, is an a-hole whose own mother should be ashamed of!
This is ludicrous! Saying that Bati music is Amhara ppl’s invention is like saying White ppl in America introduced Jazz and Rock to the world when in reality it was the systematically discriminated African Americans who contributed a lot to todays American culture.
Amhara ppl dominated Oromos and other nations and nationalities of Ethiopia for long both culturally and politically. They changed the name of our land, they tried to change our identity and culture, they suppress our language and tradition, but they have failed. We are regaining our identity, reclaiming our culture, tradition and land.
dear music lovers
I hope unlike those comments overhear most of you watched this music because it is awesome. I Know bati is a root for oromos and adopted child for amharas anyway the song is awesome just like the songs of gosaye and teshay mixed culture nowaadays gives aromatic or sensible result.
cheers
How could you label the song as “the ultimate confusion”? You are a failure and bigot. If you genuinely want the betterment of oromo people you should have at least appreciated this fabulous song. With this kind of mentality you would never prevail. You failed to educate your readers and ruined the chance to celebrate the origin of BATI (who are the wello oromos). It seems that you are the one who has got identity crises rather than obbo TADELE ROBA at least he knows what he is doing. That is bringing people together by his beautifully fused songs (another fabulous song afar and Amharic mix) . Please stop being ethnicmonger and open up your eyes and witness that we are different but still alike. One Ethiopia And equal opportunity to all!!! May GOD / ALLAH BLESS Ethiopia and her people (including those of you who are confused )
adios
^^ easy cowboy! I guess you didn’t notice what is bolded and what is not; and the LOL right after confusion should have been an indicator of my intentions but you read what you did…
[...] Tadele Roba and Jossy. [...]
amhara will go back to gondaree
